Do you have days when you feel unsure of yourself? Intimidated by people you perceive have power over you? Of course you do! We all do. It’s a big world out there, and we can often feel like a tiny insignificant speck within it. Here’s a handy and easy trick for those times when you feel insecure or hurt or powerless. Or, for when you are nervous about a test or a challenge of some kind or about meeting a new person. It even works when you are being bullied.
I didn’t make this up. Recent scientific research out of Harvard has proven that this works! For two minutes a day, by yourself in your room or in a bathroom or some other private place, strike this pose. Stand with your feet apart planted firmly on the ground. Put your hands on your hips. Shoulders back. Stand up straight. Hold this pose for two whole minutes. Two minutes can feel like forever, but do your best!
It is remarkable how much more powerful you will feel. Little kids stand like this all time. But something happens when we get older…some of us lose the little kid confidence we had before we went out into the world with all its challenges. Become hat powerful little kid again!
The Harvard study showed that people who stand this way for two minutes a day perform better in their work and at school. It is a confidence-building activity and it is so very easy!
It’s the Superman pose…and the Wonder Woman pose. It’s the pose of anyone we think is powerful. And now it’s YOUR pose. Give it a try! I have and I like the results.
